The Capital Wind Symphony

The Capital Wind Symphony is dedicated to the performance of significant original symphonic works composed for wind orchestra.

The Capital Wind Symphony seeks to showcase the talents of Metropolitan Washington’s most outstanding musicians, presenting the broadest spectrum of wind literature at the highest caliber of performance. The Capital Wind Symphony strives to foster a desire for live performance in today’s youth – the audience of the future.

The Capital Wind Symphony serves the metropolitan area of the District of Columbia and adjacent areas of Maryland and Virginia. It is currently based in McLean, Virginia.

The personnel of the Capital Wind Symphony are drawn from diverse organizations: from the premiere military bands of Washington, DC, the several top symphony orchestras, and from university music programs. Other members are public school band directors and talented professional and amateur performers. All dedicate their talent to the Capital Wind Symphony because of it’s goal for being a resource to the public for presenting original symphonic compositions for winds.
